TO OUR ENGLISH-SPEAKING FRIENDS

Hi there!!
The aim of this post is to get in touch with our friends from Canada, Poland, New Zealand and England that are following our blog so that they can know about our trip, adventures... I’m very sorry I didn’t write anything until today that I’m on the plane back home but we’ve been quite busy and I was pretty tired at night. Thanks for all your posts.
We’ve travelled to Atlantic Canada this summer!!! Perhaps it’s not a very common destination to go on holiday (we were the first Catalan / Spanish in quite a lot of B&B, campgrounds...). Anyway,You know we like uncommon places where we can enjoy nature and wildlife.
When you travel to Canada you have to keep in mind travel time – distances are long and travel times slow- , time zones, spectacular landscapes, wildlife as well as lots of bug spray!!!!
Our memories from Atlantic Canada will be the huge amount of white and red lighthouses we’ve seen, colourful houses –wornderful coloured houses in the steepy streets in St. John’s- and of course, lobster and scallops – McDonalds have a sandwich called Mclobster, indeed!!!- and at the airport you can buy lobster ready to take home!
We’ll also remember the tidal bore in Nova Scotia, a unique phenomenon to witness. It’s incredible to see how waves flow up and hide tide comes in -in only six hours you can experience up to 15m- difference. The tides in the Bay of Fundy are the most important in the world. Due to this fact, geology, rocks and minerals, and wildlife are very special. The walking tour we took at the Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro focused on geology, rocks ,minerals and fossils was very interesting. And what to say about the Hopewell Rocks, called the flowerpots. Did you see the pictures?
However, one of the things that we’ll best remember from NS are the unspoiled white beaches – and the seals- we found in Keijimkujik Seaside Adjunct..wow ... gorgeous and we were completely alone for quite a long time, and it was so sunny. Moreover, driving along the Cabot trail in Cape Breton was so relaxingt and wonderful.
History takes an important place in this area. You can see the Acadian Flag, experience the Celtic influence in Cape Breton but you sometimes wonder if they have assumed all this diversity and multicultural roots.
Migration is also important . It was important lots of years ago when so many people arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax but oiutward migration is still important today when many people, young people ,go west to find better opportunities. Fishing is an important in economy but it has also declined, as well as mining and agriculture is not very important neither other industries.
How about Newfoundland? The first thing you have to know is that they are Canadian but they are Newfies and I think Newfoundland goes first and they are so proud of it, they have their own time zone and a their own dictionary!!! And it’s so difficult to understand them, the other Canadians says it’s hard!!!
Newfoundland is also called the Rock- newfies tell that God made the world in six days but he didn’t rest on the seventh because he spend that days throwing rocks to make Newfoundland- and you can easily understand it because there is rock everywhere – and their highways and roads full of bumps- although they have two impressive National Parks full of trees. The stunning Tablelands , a bronse coloured flat-top massif part of the earth's mantle , make you feel are in another world. Its rugged coastline, spectacular cliffs and beautiful sunsets are memorable . The afternoon we spent on a cliff looking at five or six humpack whales diving while some seals were playing near the shore is unforgettable. Newfoundland is a place yet to be discovered.
